Ken Hutcherson must gather signatures from at least 224,800 registered voters by July 6 to put the initiative on the November ballot. He filed his initiative on Friday. The state law was passed early in 2006. It added sexual orientation to a state law that bans discrimination based on race, gender, religion and other categories. An effort last year to overturn the law failed when the referendum's sponsor, Tim Eyman, didn't gather enough signatures to qualify for the fall ballot. |
