Opie When Opie moved to Rdm from Bothell in the fall of 1952, he moved into a 2-story house on 164th directly west of the present 7-ll. Across the street and on the next block to the south was the Martinecks' house. Mr. and Mrs. Martineck. owned a blueberry farm not far away. [it was one of two blueberry farms in Rdm] Mr/Mrs Martineck were from Switzerland. Besides owning and operating the bb far, Mr. M. did ran the movie projector for the Redmond Cinemond[?] on Rdm Way. Opie's daughter worked at the bb farm as a sr in hi sch, paying the pickers, not picking fruit. The 2-story house where Opie lived across from today's 7-11 was torn down while opie and Cleo were out of town one time. They bought their house from a Mr. Stevenson, now deceased. His wife and daughter moved to San Diego after he died. Gary Graep was elected Mayor in .1955. Opie thinks he lived on 81st. going south on 164th turn right before the Arco station. 2 or 3 houses down on the right. When he retired, Gary moved to Hwy 9 across from thrasher's Corner. Opie suggests calling Roy Buckley who lived in a number of houses nearby. |
