1938 Graduated from Redmond, Washington High School 1938-1942 Student at Washington State University. Obtained BS degree in Dairy Manufacturing June 1942-November 1942 Worked in warehouse of Standard Tire Company in Seattle, Washington November 1942-July 1943 Basic training and OCS July 1943 Assigned to 93rd Medical Gas Treatment Battalion in rank of Second Lieutenant November 1943 Arrived in England. Stationed near Oxford, then Reading, then Torquay July 17, 1944 Landed Utah Beach, France since gas was not used the unit was used for air evacuation of wounded to London and later Paris. Locations of operations - France: Avranches and Paris; Belgium: St. Trond, Hasvelt, Liege and Namur; Germany; Muchan-Gladbach, Paderborn, Helmstedt and Salzwedel (this near Elbe River when war ended) November 1945 Arrived back in US. Discharged in rank of Captain (Feb 1946) February - October 1946 Worked in testing laboratory of Arden Farms Dairy in Seattle, Washington October 1946-July 1948 Graduate student at Washington State University. Graduated with MS in Dairy Manufacturing August 1948-June 1951 Graduate student at Oregon State University. Graduated with PhD in Dairy Bacteriology July 1951-June 1962 Professor of Dairy Science New Mexico State University July 1962-June 1978 Head Dairy Department New Mexico State University July 1978-July 1984 Assistant Head Animal Science Department New Mexico State University (Animal, Dairy and Poultry were combined in 1978) 1984 Retired Married Elsie Cannon of Abilene, Texas on November 25, 1945. Elsie died April 1, 1980. Have 2 sons. Philip is a CPA located in Phoenix, Arizona and Vince has a PhD in Plant Pathology and is working for a company in Bozeman, Montana |
